Preface: Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) a regulating “hormone” for organization.

As an experienced assurance and consulting professional, I learn that GRC practices have been becoming more and more relevant for many business organizations from day to day. Fraudulence scandals in many high profile corporations and governments, regional and political instability, economic-bubbling policies and practices are stories that seems will last along the history of human being. The stories now turn into another chapter as maybe those pathetic things come into result of global financial crisis and threats of environmental sustainability (global warming is just a symptom).

Our history and experiences has told us that good management is not enough. Evolution of good management practice basically has been starting from time to time, from revolution of industry in Europe in 18th century up to now. Good management basically emphasized on achieving high investment yields generating from productivity, speed, efficiency and effectiveness of resources and operations. There’s cynical opinion about CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility), which impose a commentary that CSR is not more that marketing gimmick, something that we cannot deny nor blame if somebody insist to use that term. Analogue with living things, good management within an organization merely is just kind of growth hormone. Organization requires another co-existing hormone, it is regulating hormone, something we call it GRC. (C/P).
